SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Travis Jordan scored 21 points Thursday to lead the Baystate Academy boys basketball team to a 64-51 win over Monument Mountain.
Baystate outscored the Spartans, 24-16, in the fourth quarter to break open a five-point game.
Khalil Carlson scored 14 points, and Kyle Wellenkamp added nine for Monument Mountain.
“We were hampered by 22 turnovers, many of them unforced, that led to transition offense from Baystate,” Monument Mountain coach Randy Koldys said. “Much if that occurred in the second quarter, when we outscored 16-6. It is really tough to play catchup against Baystate, because they have a lot of scorers.”
Monument Mountain (13-5) learns Saturday who it will play in the quarter-finals of next week’s Western Massachusetts regional tournament.
