CHESHIRE, Mass. – Ashlyn Lesure scored 27 points Thursday to lead the Hoosac Valley girls basketball team to a 76-32 win over Palmer in the first round of the Division 5 State Tournament.

 

Reagan Shea scored 11 for the Hurricanes, who got nine points from Emma Meczywor and eight from Genevieve Lagess.

 

Sophie Wilson hit a pair of 3-pointers in the first quarter as the Hurricanes jumped out to a 28-7 lead.

 

Lesure scored 14 in the second quarter to help the Hurricanes stretch their lead to 46-16 at half-time.

 

Second-seeded Hoosac Valley advances to the Round of 16, where it will meet Westport, a 46-23 winner over Neighborhood House on Thursday.
