NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – Maggie Nichols completed her sweep of the sprints and ran anchor on Mount Greylock’s winning 4-by-100 relay Saturday to lead the Mounties to an overwhelming team title at the Division 6 Track and Field Championships at Merrimack College.

Nichols, who won the 200 on day one of the meet on Thursday, ran a time of 12.70 seconds in the 100 final on Saturday to edge Hamilton-Wenham’s Georgia Wilson by a tenth of a second.

The team race was not nearly as close.

Mount Greylock's girls collected 97 points at the two-day meet, easily outpacing runner-up Hamilton-Wenham, which finished with 57 points.

Monument Mountain joined the Mount Greylock girls in the top 10 in the state by finishing eighth.

Mount Greylock’s boys placed third in Division 6 with 41 points, behind co-state champs Amesbury and Littleton, who finished with 69 points apiece.

In the boys meet, the Mounties got a key contribution from Quinn McDermott, who followed Thursday’s win in the 800 meters by running a leg on Saturday’s winning 4-by-800 relay quartet.

The Berkshire County contingent, which won four events on Thursday, took five more on Day 2.

In addition to Mount Greylock’s 4-by-800 relay in the boys meet, Wahconah’s Payton Shippee won the javelin.

In the girls meet, Monument Mountain’s Lily Haskins-Vaughan took home a gold medal and broke the county record she and Mount Greylock’s Chase Hoey set this spring by clearing 5 feet, 7 inches.
