Mark F. Thomann, 67
ADAMS, Mass. — On Sunday June 5th, 2022 the world lost a great man, a fireman, a sportsman, and a wonderful husband, father, papa, brother, son, and friend. Mark Francis Thomann was born in North Adams, MA on March 24th, 1955 to Claire Thomann and Fredrick Thomann. He was a Class of 1973 graduate from Drury High School, and completed his AS in Business Administration, and his BS in Fire Science from Berkshire Community College, and SUNY respectively. He was a second-generation Firefighter (Lieutenant) in the City of North Adams, following in the footsteps of his father Capt. Thomann, and it was his passion. He took his profession seriously, always looking to better himself and his men, with proactive thinking and innovation. In similar fashion to all his life endeavors, he poured his heart and soul into being a “protector of the community,” he was the fireman’s fireman, and a man’s man. He was also a member of the Massachusetts State Hazmat Team. Anyone that knew Mark, knew that he had a heart of gold, a thirst for living, and a passion for teaching and supporting…especially for the underdog, as he was one himself. He believed you could accomplish anything if you put your mind to it, he believed in hard work and perseverance, and he believed in family, friends, morals, values, and ethics. He loved the outdoors and riding his motorcycle. He passed in his sleep living his best life at his homestead in the North East Kingdom of VT, and although he is no longer with us on this earth, the memories will last forever, as will his fighting spirit! We love you dad, Mark, and Doogie! He leaves behind his wife of 44 years, Kimberley Anne (Cole) Thomann, who he loved immeasurably till death did them part; two children, daughter Danielle M. Luchi and husband Anthony Luchi of Clarksburg, MA, and son Ryan Thomann of Adams, MA. Four grandchildren, Lena Luchi, Ethan Corkins, Josephine Thomann and Lukas Thomann; his mother Claire Thomann of North Adams, MA; his sister Lisa Thomann of Pittsfield, MA; his brother Karl Thomann of FL, his nephew Karl Thomann Jr. of North Adams, and several other family members and friends. He is predeceased by his father Fredrick Thomann. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, June 16th at 11:00 AM in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, 25 Hoosac St. Adams. Calling hours will be held IN THE CHURCH on Thursday morning from 9:30 until the Mass at 11 AM. Burial will be private. Memorial donations may be made to St. Stanislaus School, 108 Summer St. Adams, MA 01220. The PACIOREK FUNERAL HOME, Adams, is assisting with arrangements.
