Frances Pikul, 94
ADAMS, Mass. — Mrs. Frances A. (Kozik) Pikul, 94, of 3 Myrtle St. died peacefully on Thursday, September 1, 2016, at Williamstown Commons.
She was born in Adams on December 22, 1921, a daughter of the late Jan and Antonina (Brzezowska) Kozik. She attended schools in Adams and then graduated from the former Lottie's Beauty School in North Adams.
Mrs. Pikul owned and operated Fran's Beauty Shop on Orchard Street in Adams for many years until retiring. Earlier she had worked for the former Adele's Beauty Shop in Adams.
She was a communicant of the Parish of St. John Paul II at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Adams. She was a member of the St. Stanislaus Rosary Sodality, the Polish Women's Club and the Adams Seniors.
She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed knitting, reading, jewelry collecting, tag sales, listening to Polka music and having a cocktail with her sisters and friends.
Her husband, Peter Pikul, whom she married on September 14, 1946, died on May 7, 1996.
She is survived by one son, Richard Pikul and his wife Dianna of Cheshire; two daughters, Lorraine Kalisz and her husband Richard of Adams and Jane Nevares of Adams; five grandchildren, William, Daniel and David Kalisz and Kimberly Winter and Eric Pikul; four great-grandchildren, Ryan, Alyson and Cole Kalisz and Nolan Winter; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her six brothers, Isadore, Stanley, Matthew, Frank, Edwin and Walter Kozik; and her three sisters, Isabelle Lipinski, Amella Trottier and Helen Duprey.
Funeral notice: The funeral will be held on Thursday, Sept. 8, 2016, at 9 a.m. from the Paciorek Funeral Home, 13 Hoosac St., Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Adams, celebrated by Rev. Matthew Alcombright. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Adams.
Calling hours are Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2016, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Members of the St. Stanislaus Rosary Sodality will meet at the funeral home, at 3:45 p.m. to pay their respects and recite the rosary.
