LYNNFIELD, Mass. -- Prosper Ezan picked the perfect time to score the first goal of his career.
Ezan scored with three minutes left in the second overtime to give the Pittsfield boys soccer team a 3-2 win over Lynn Voc Tech on Saturday in the Division 4 State Tournament.
The game-winning sequence started when Kyle Cardoso was tackled from behind about 48 yards from the goal on the left wing.
Gustavo Oliveira took the ensuing free kick, sending the ball into the 18, where it was headed toward the goal by Cardoso. The Lynn Voc Tech keeper got a piece of the ball, but it deflected to Ezan, who hit a one-timer into the back of the net.
Connor Devine made two game-saving stops in the first sudden death OT -- once midway through the period and again with fewer than two minutes left.
He then made another save on a shot from distance in the first minute of the second overtime.
Cardoso scored a goal in each half of regulation.
In the first half, he converted a direct free kick. In the second half, he played a rebound after a Daniel Mosquera free kick was saved by the Tigers' keeper.
Pittsfield (8-9-2) moves on to the Round of 16 and a trip to third-seeded Hampshire (17-0-3), a 2-0 winner over Manchester Essex on Saturday. The Generals lost to the Raiders three times this year -- twice in the regular season and once in the Western Massachusetts Class B quarter-finals.
The time and date for meeting No. 4 is yet to be announced.
