Crow Brennan and Eric Hirsch scored goals 12 seconds apart in the game's 25th minute to spur the Mounties to victory in the quarterfinals of the Western Mass Division III tournament on Friday in Williamstown.
Intermittent sleet and snow showers throughout the game. We did a very good job of containing 25-goal scorer Tyler LaJoie. David Majetich and Jake Foehl did well to shut him down.
Eric Hirsch becomes the third player in Greylock history to tally more than 100 points.
Benni McComish and Ian Brink both scored their first goals of the season. Benni's goal was a 35 yard wonder-strike (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nIF5fcRH50w&feature=youtu.be); Ian's goal was less impressive (GK miscue).
"It's been a while since we've played. We're so happy to finally get the tournament underway. We had our way tonight but it's not going to be so easy from here on out. We got a good look at Southwick on Friday so we we'll be prepared for them on Tuesday or Wednesday."
No details on the time/date of the next game. If the MG girls win Saturday night, we'll play a double-header with them at a site TBD--hopefully in Berkshire County.
