Wahconah Punches Ticket for State Tourney

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. – James Rabuse struck out 14 in a complete-game effort Thursday as Wahconah beat Monument Mountain, 6-3, to secure a berth in the State Tournament.
 
Rabuse allowed three hits and no earned runs for Wahconah, which ran its record to 10-4 with four games plus the first two rounds of the Western Massachusetts tournament left on its schedule.
 
Rabuse helped his cause by going 3-for-4 at the plate with three RBIs in a 10-hit Wahconah attack.
 
Carter Drake and Ryan Marauswski each doubled, and Braedyn Melle went 2-for-4 with an RBI.
 
The Spartans got a hit and an RBI from Chris Paul.
 
Paul also split time on the mound with Gus Luf and Parker Smith.
 
Monument Mountain (6-7) goes to Lenox on Saturday.
 
Wahconah will look to continue working on its tournament seed when it hosts Pittsfield on Friday.
