DALTON, Mass. -- Gabe Davis worked a two-out, bases-loaded walk to cap a five-run eighth inning as the Wahconah baseball team defeated Monson, 12-11, on Monday in the Western Massachusetts Division 3 quarter-finals.

Third-seeded Wahconah (13-8) responded after Monson scored four in the top of the seventh to take an 11-7 lead. The comeback gave Wahconah a victory in the final game it will play on its home field -- scheduled to be ground for the new high school -- and a berth in the sectional semi-finals against No. 2 Frontier (19-3) on Wednesday at UMass-Amherst.

Jake Gai started the winning rally with a one-out walk. Kevin Huban then doubled to put men on second and third. After Gai scored on a wild pitch, Caden Frazier walked to put runners at the corners.

Monson got a strikeout for its second out, but Huban scored on a passed ball, and Joe Woronick followed with a single to plate Frazer and make it 11-10.

An infield error allowed Bob Archambault to reach and sent Woronick to third.

Another passed ball then allowed Woronick to score and tie the game, 11-11.

Monson issued a pair of intentional walks to load the bases ahead of Davis, and his RBI won the game.

Woronick finished the day 2-for-3 with three RBIs, and Gai doubled in a 12-hit Wahconah attack.

Frazier and Chad Howes split time on the mound. Frazier got the start and allowed eight runs, but just one earned run, in 5-⅓ innings. Howes earned the win with 2-⅔ innings of work, striking out three and allowing two earned runs.
