CHP/Berkshire South WIC invite all expecting and new parents to a free Community Baby Shower at 442 Stockbridge Road. The first 10 women who attend will win a gift card for a free manicure. There will be free workshops on prenatal bonding, breastfeeding and returning to work, baby boxes and more. In addition to educational activities, there will be informational resources from local providers in the community to support new mothers and their families. There will also be several give-a-ways.

THERAPIST TALK A MENTAL HEALTH WORKSHOP

Time: Registration: 8:30 am Program: 9:00 am to 3:00 pm Regular Fee: $ 60.00 CEU Fee: $30.00 (includes certificate of completion: 5.00 CCHI or 0.5 IMIA) 10% off for Berkshire AHEC alumni (confirmation required) 10% off for CMI or CHI certified (proof required) This 5 hour workshop will be an information session with regards to how as a Medical Interpreter we can focus on the process and emotion during a Mental Health interpreting encounter; we will explain therapy, its complexity and the intense emotions all can experience. We will focus on Mood Disorders and PTSD. Participants will be able to define transference (clients’ feelings/reactions) and countertransference (therapists’ feeling's/reactions) and understand these roles within the therapeutic relationship and their impact on the medical interpreter, therapist and client. Be able to understand the various diagnoses classified under Mood Disorders, as well as symptoms characteristic of each disorder, understand the definition of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and have the ability to define interpersonal trauma and its implications for attachment, affect regulation and the development of interpreters.
