George E. Belanger, 73
POWNAL, Vt. — George E. Belanger, 73, of Barber Pond Road died Saturday, July 26, 2014, at Albany (N.Y.) Medical Center.Born in North Adams on May 13, 1941, a son of George E. and Ruth Booth Belanger, he attended schools in North Adams.
Mr. Belanger was the owner and operator of the Hollow Bore Co. in Pownal. He also was employed for several years at the former George's Gulf Station in Williamstown as a mechanic.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, working in his yard and was an avid NASCAR fan
He leaves his wife, Gail Ouellette; two daughters, Laurie O'Dell and her husband, Victor, and Megan Belanger; two sons, Jamie Belanger and Mickey Belanger; 12 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by three sons, Aron, John and George Belanger; two brothers, Donald Belanger and John Belanger, at 6 months; and a sister, Edna.
FUNERAL NOTICE — A celebration of Mr. Belanger's life will take place Thursday, July 31, at 7:30 p.m. at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams. Burial will be Friday, Aug. 1, at noon at the family plot in Southview Cemetery in North Adams.
Calling hours will be Thursday from 4 to 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested for the Pownal Rescue Squad through the funeral home.
