Paul A. Trottier, 83


CLARKSBURG, Mass. — Paul Alphonse Trottier, 83, died Monday, September 18, 2017, peacefully at home surrounded by his family.



He was born in Adams on December 1, 1933, the son of Alphonse & Irene (Beaupré) Trottier. He attended Adams schools, graduating from the former Adams High School with the class of 1952, where he participated in varsity athletics and served as class president. Paul was a graduate of the General Electric Apprentice Program with an emphasis in machine design. After leaving G.E., he was employed by the James Hunter Machine Co. and, later, the Morrison Berkshire Co., both of North Adams. He retired as a Customer Support Engineer in October 2001. 



Paul was also an accomplished carpenter who built many homes in the North Adams area, including his long time family residence in Clarksburg. He was a devoted husband and father, a student of American history and the World Wars, and an avid reader. He served in the Massachusetts Army National Guard for 16 years, retiring at the rank of Captain.



Paul’s first wife, the former Verna (Canale) Trottier, whom he married on June 26, 1954, died on August 23, 2001. Together, they had seven children: David Trottier, Lynn Trombley, Debora MacDonald, Alan Trottier, Lisa Gazaille, Judith Trottier (deceased February 2, 1965) and Lori Hickey. He is survived by 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.



He also leaves his companion and partner, Elizabeth Boucher, and her children Lynn Bizzi, Katherine Dean and Ronald Boucher.



He was a communicant of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Parish, North Adams.  



Funeral notice: Calling hours for Paul will be held Thursday, September 21, 2017, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapel, 521 West Main St., North Adams, Mass. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Elizabeth Church on Friday, September 22, 2017, at 11 a.m.  



Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery. If desired, friends may make memorial contributions to the Association of Marian Helpers, 2 Prospect Hill Road, Stockbridge, MA 01263 or to St. Elizabeth of Hungary Parish, North Adams.
