Betty-Jean BrentBetty-Jean Brent, 82, of 18 Edgemere Road died Wednesday at home.
Born in Saco, Maine, on Nov. 26, 1922, daughter of Harry and Harriet Northrop Miles, she attended schools in Old Orchard, Maine, and was a 1940 graduate of Old Orchard High School.
Primarily a homemaker, Mrs. Brent was employed by GE and worked as a secretary in Maine during the 1940s.
She was a former member of First Baptist Church in Pittsfield.
A golfer, she played in the Women's League at Bas-Ridge Country Club. She was also a seamstress.
She and her husband, Alvin W. Brent, were married Dec. 20, 1945, in Old Orchard.
Besides her husband, she leaves two daughters, Patricia Brent-Loehr of Peru and Bethany J. Ano of Virginia Beach, Va.; five grandsons, and three great-grandchildren. Another daughter, Judith L. Dorval, died May 27, 2000.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- At the request of Betty-Jean Brent, who died Aug. 3, 2005, services will be private and burial will be Ashuelot Cemetery at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires or to the Dalton Ambulance, both in care of DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME, 890 East Main St., Dalton, which is handling arrangements.
Betty-Jean is lovingly survived by five grandsons, Robert Cavanaugh and his wife, Robin Lander, Andy Cavanaugh, James Ano and his wife, Siobhan Sanchez, Greg Dorval and Brian Ano; three great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews, Don and Florence Hayford and Richard and Dana Wiswell, as well as many other nieces and nephews; and sons-in-law David Ano, James Loehr and Joseph Dorval.
Predeceased by her beloved daughter, Judith L. Dorval. Mom, you were a Hoot ... We love you so dearly. Love Judy, Pat and Bethany.
