Russell H. Lesure, 77
CLARKSBURG, Mass. Russell H. Lesure, 77, of 420 North Houghton St., died Saturday, Nov. 11, 2006, at home.Born in North Adams on Aug. 12, 1929, son of William E. Lesure Sr. and Alice Kegresse Lesure, he was a 1949 graduate of Drury High School. He also had resided at 168 Howland Ave., Adams, for many years.
He had served with Company K, Massachusetts National Guard.
Mr. Lesure was employed by the former Adams Super Market in Adams for 28 years, and then by its successor, Big Y Supermarket, until his retirement in 1992.
A golfer, he was a member of the Stamford (Vt.) Valley Golf Club and the Northern Berkshire YMCA. As a young man, he was a member of Boy Scout Troop 5 at the YMCA and attained the rank of Eagle Scout. He later was a Scout leader.
He and his wife, the former Joan Lorraine Crosier, were married Aug. 11, 1951, at Notre Dame Church in North Adams. The couple spent winters in Bronson, Fla.
Besides his wife, he leaves four daughters, Debra J. Kuzia and her fiance, Jack Alexander, of the town of Florida, Judith L. Taylor and her husband, Marshall, of Adams, Gail M. Lesure and her partner, Erin Forbush, of North Adams and Barbara A. O'Neil and her husband, Daniel, of Clarksburg; a son, Kevin S. Lesure and his wife, Jessica, of Adams; two brothers, John E. Lesure of Williston, Fla., and Richard P. Lesure of Adams; 12 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
A son, David B. Lesure, died in 1977 and a brother, William E. Lesure Jr., in 2003.
FUNERAL NOTICE â€' Calling hours for Mr.Lesure will be Tuesday from 5 to 7 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, Central Chapel, 74 Marshall St., North Adams. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday at 11 at St. Anthony's Church.
Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in care of the funeral home.
