Norman L. Tatro, 86
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. - Norman Leo Tatro, 86, of 40 Central Ave. died Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2008, at North Adams Regional Hospital.Born in North Adams on Nov. 11, 1922, son of Leo and Blanche Lamarre Tatro, he attended schools in North Adams, including Drury High School.
He was a Marine veteran of World War II.
Mr. Tatro was employed for 44 years by the former General Cable Corp. in its Williamstown, North Adams and Pownal, Vt., plants as the division traffic manager until retiring in 1987.
He was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church and a member of the Disabled American Veterans. He enjoyed reading, cooking and bird watching. He was a former member of the Northern Berkshire YMCA, and he helped run its youth basketball league.
His wife, the former Helen Louise Franz, whom he married Nov. 18, 1944, died Aug. 22, 2002.
He leaves two sons, Steven P. Tatro and his wife, Gail, of North Adams and David A. Tatro and his wife, Linda, of Williamstown; a brother, Bernard Tatro of Deland, Fla.; a sister, Doris Simon of Garden Grove, Calif.; four grandchildren, Jennifer Tatro, Ashley Boyd, David A. Tatro Jr. and Allison Stapleton, nine great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brothers Roger Tatro and Raymond Tatro and a stepbrother Ernest Means.
FUNERAL NOTICE - A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Mr. Tatro will be celebrated Monday, Dec. 29, at 11 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Cemetery in Williamstown.
Calling hours at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels,, 521 West Main St. North Adams, will be Monday morning from 9 to 10:30. Memorial contributions may be made to North Adams Ambulance Service in care of the funeral home.
