Mammography Dispute
The government's issued controversial new guidelines stating that women shouldn't get annual mammograms until age 50, rather than age 40.

Clementina Daniels, 100

ADAMS, Mass. — Clementina "Mandy" Daniels, 100, of 31 Powers St. died Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009, at Sweet Brook Care Centers in Williamstown.

Born in North Adams on Dec. 22, 1908, daughter of Donato and Bernadette Marino Mastroianni, she was educated in North Adams schools. She moved to Adams in 1957.

Mrs. Daniels was employed by the former Jarisch Paper Box Co. in North Adams until her retirement in 1994. She began her working career with the former H.W. Clark Biscuit Co. and later with the former Sprague Electric Co., both in North Adams.

She was a communicant of the former St. Thomas Aquinas Church. She was a member of North Adams Lodge 704, Sons of Italy, and enjoyed gardening and crocheting.

Her husband, Joseph A. Daniels, whom she married Sept. 1, 1930, in the former St. Anthony of Padua Church, died Aug. 28, 1967.

She leaves two grandchildren, John Anthony Daniels Jr. and his wife, Heather, of Alvarado, Texas, and Pamela Jean Bremer and her husband, Leonard, of Dakota City, Iowa; six great-grandchildren, Michael Daniels of Dallas, Russell Daniels of Boston, Gary Weaver of Mooreland, Iowa, Nicole Aquino of Fort Worth, Texas, Joey Daniels of San Diego and Shannon Anderson of Dakota City, Iowa; her former daughter-in-law, Doris Boucher Daniels Sampson and her husband, Roland, of Middletown, Conn., and nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Her son, John Anthony Daniels Sr., died Aug. 11, 1977. She also was predeceased by six brothers, John Mastroianni, Theodore Mastroianni, Albert Mastroianni, Leo Mastroianni, Angelo Mastroianni and Francis Mastroianni.

FUNERAL NOTICE — A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Mrs. Daniels will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 12, at Pope John Paul the Great Church in Adams. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery in North Adams.

Calling hours will be Wednesday, Nov. 11, from 4 to 7 at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams. Flowers may be sent or donations in her memory are suggested for the Sweet Brook Activities Center through the funeral home.
