This fiscal budget season has been a very difficult one for the Finance Committee and chairs. These professional individuals put their time and talent into doing what is best for the town and its people.

North Adams should provide a meaningful and practical opportunity to engage citizens in a dialogue on the budget.

On May 5, at the annual town meeting, Dalton residents voted 162-117 to reject the police budget which has risen by 59 percent, or $600,000, since Chief Strout's appointment ($1.049M FY21 versus $1.665M 2026 projection).
