SteepleCats Pitcher Named Co-Pitcher of the Week

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — SteepleCats right-handed pitcher Tyler Gebler has been named the New England Collegiate Baseball League Co-Pitcher of the Week.

Gebler earned the honor after shutting out the Vermont Mountaineers last Thursday night at Joe Wolfe Field. Gebler allowed just three hits, walked none and struck out nine in the SteepleCats' 3-0 over the Mountaineers that night.

Gebler, who just completed his freshman year at Rutgers University, is 5-1 on the season for the SteepleCats with a 1.96 ERA. He's pitched 46 innings, has struck out 45 batters and has walked just eight. He's thrown two complete games, one shutout and opponents are hitting .215 against him this season. He's currently tied for second in the league in wins and strikeouts.

Gebler is the third SteepleCats to earn a weekly honor this season. Matt Petty was named the league's Co-Player of the Week for the week ending July 4 and Stephen Rivera was named the league's Co-Pitcher of the Week for the week ending June 27.

The SteepleCats will finish the regular season this week and have already clinched a spot in the NECBL playoffs. The NECBL playoffs will begin on Monday, Aug. 2.

Mystic, Conn., Rolls Past SteepleCats

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- Camden Righi went 3-for-5 with a double Tuesday to lead the Mystic Schooners (5-1) to a 12-2 win over the North Adams SteepleCats in New England Collegiate Baseball action at Joe Wolfe Field.
 
Parker Camelo was 2-for-3 at the plate for North Adams, which scored both its runs in the bottom of the ninth.
 
North Adams used six pitchers in the loss. James Morr and Joe LaPrade each provided an inning of no-hit relief.
 
The SteepleCats (0-3) are at Martha's Vineyard on Wednesday night.
