Frances N. Schmidt, 92
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Frances N. (Mancuso) Schmidt, 92, of North Adams died Sunday, November 13, 2016, at Williamstown Commons.
She was born in North Adams on May 20, 1924, daughter of Joseppe and Nicolina (Filicetti) Mancuso. She attended local schools and graduated from the Drury High School with the class of 1943.
Frances was employed at Sprague Electric Co. on Brown Street for many years. She was an active communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Church and was a member of its Rosary Society. She was a member of the Jollee Circle and was a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW. Frances organized many reunions and luncheons for the class of '43 and was a lifetime Drury sports fan, especially basketball. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
She was the widow of Frank Peter Schmidt, who died on July 23, 1999. They were married on April 19, 1947, in St. Anthony of Padua Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Diane Santucci and her husband Joseph of North Adams, Carol Bertoli of Hudson, Fla., and Nanette Schmidt of North Adams; one son, Arnold Frank Schmidt and his wife Leslie of Greenfield, Mass.; five grandchildren, Dominic Gerard, Heather Gerard, Alex Schmidt, Kristen Schmidt and Geeg Wiles; one brother, D. Peter Mancuso of Pittsfield; two sisters, Rita Trifone of Southbridge, Mass., and Carmela Brazeau of North Adams; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
She was predeceased by one brother and five sisters, Albert Mancuso, Mary Piccolo, Dorothy Beaupre, Margaret Brule, Catherine Lipa and Joanne Saltamartini.
Funeral notice: A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Frances Schmidt will be celebrated Saturday, November 19, 2016, at 8:30 a.m. at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery.
