Ellen Polidoro Roux, 91

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Ellen Polidoro Roux, 91, of Mount Carmel Care Center, died Wednesday, November 23, 2016.

Born in Pittsfield on April 11, 1925, she was the daughter of Nicola and Domenica Salciccioli Polidoro. Ellen was a 1942 graduate of Pittsfield High School. She married Louis Joseph Roux, on August 9, 1947. Ellen worked for General Electric in Pittsfield as an assembler during World War II. After the war she married Lou and moved to Lenox, where they raised their two children. She worked as a hairdresser for many years.

She was a member of the Italian-American Club and the ITAM Lodge. Ellen loved visiting and traveling with her friends. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Ellen was predeceased by her husband Louis, to whom she was married for 36 years.

Ellen is survived by her two children, Judith Roux Moynihan and Louis J Roux and his wife Nancy Palano Roux of Pittsfield; eight beloved grandchildren, Kellie Moynihan Harrigan and her husband Emmett, Jennifer Moynihan Pearson and her husband Jeremiah, Erin Moynihan Conkling and her husband Peter, Bryan Moynihan, Sarah Roux Fox and her husband Michael Fox, and Kate, Amanda and Matthew Roux; seven beloved great-grandchildren, Brenden Harrigan, Sawyer, Noah and Phoebe Pearson; James Conkling, and Sophie and Kelsey Fox; a sister-in-law, Mae Roux Mazur; and several nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by her brothers Anthony, Philip and Alfred Polidoro; her sisters, Connie Polidoro Rilla, Yolanda Polidoro Gillette, and Lucia Polidoro Radke; and her son-in-law, Dennis Moynihan.

Ellen's family would like to extend their appreciation to Mount Carmel Care Center for their kindness and wonderful care during her stay there.

Funeral notice: Calling hours will be from 9 to 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 29, 2016, at Flynn & Dagnoli-Bencivenga Home for Funerals, 5 Elm Street, Pittsfield, followed by the Liturgy of Christian burial at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 196 Elm Street, Pittsfield.

Burial will follow in the family plot at Saint Ann's Cemetery in Lenox. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation in care of the funeral home.
