Alice M. MacMullen, 91

ANDISFIELD, Mass. — Alice May MacMullen, 91, of River Road in Sandisfield, died Wednesday, November 23, 2016, at the Hartford Hospital.

Ms. MacMullen was born in Waterbury, Conn., on August 14, 1925, the daughter of Percival and Anna Stetson MacMullen. She was raised and educated in Waterbury, received her bachelor’s degree from the Teachers College of Connecticut and her master’s degree from the University of Connecticut. Ms. MacMullen was an elementary school teacher for the North Haven School District, retiring in 1985.

Prior to making her home with her sister, Edna Leavenworth, in Sandisfield, Ms. MacMullen resided in North Haven, Conn., for 49 years.

Ms. MacMullen was a member of the Association of Retired Teachers of Connecticut, the Sandisfield Council on Aging and past member of the Connecticut Fifers and Drummers Association, National Education Association, Connecticut Education Association, North Haven Teachers Association and the PTA.

Besides her sister, Edna Leavenworth, Ms. MacMullen leaves behind a sister, Myrtle E. Ross and her husband Ed of Waterbury, Conn.; her sister-in-law, Mel MacMullen of Texas; nine nieces and nephews; 16 great-nieces and nephews; and 17 great-great nieces and nephews.

Ms. MacMullen was predeceased by her brother, John MacMullen; sister Lil Seeley; two nieces, a nephew, a great-nephew and a great-great niece.

Funeral notice: Visiting hours for Alice MacMullen will be Wednesday, November 30, 2016, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Kelly Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life at Grace Church will be held at a later date.
