Budd Brown, 69

LEE, Mass. — Budd C. Brown, 69, of Fuller Street in Lee died Friday, December 23, 2016, at the Berkshire Medical Center with his family by his side.

He was born in Ithaca, N.Y., on April 4, 1947, the son of Robert and Bess Honness Brown, and was educated in the Ithaca Schools graduating from Ithaca High School in 1965. He attended and graduated from Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Budd enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1970 during the Vietnam War and continued his service until 1984, when he was honorably discharged with the rank of Lieutenant.

Following the service, Budd became employed at General Dynamics in Pittsfield for a short period before he began working for the Defense Department. He retired from the Defense Department in 2007. Budd then went back to work as a private contractor for the company AECOM where he worked until his passing.

Budd has made his home in Lee since 1984 where he was a member of the First Congregational Church of Lee.

He leaves his wife, the former Mary Beth Welter, whom he married April 7, 1984; two daughters, Sarah E. Nichols and her husband Kirk of Pittsfield and Kaitlyn A. Brown of Lenox; two grandchildren, Olivia and Emma Nichols; as well as his extended family of brothers and sisters.

Funeral notice: The funeral for Budd Brown will be held on Wednesday, January 4, 2017, at 10 a.m. at the First Congregational Church in Lee, with the Rev. Bill Neil, pastor, officiating. Visiting hours at the Kelly Funeral Home in Lee will be Tuesday, January 3, 2017, from 4 to 7 p.m.
