Marjorie Wasilenko, 92
ADAMS, Mass. — Mrs. Marjorie Ann (Robinson) Wasilenko, 92, formerly of Adams, died on Tuesday, January 10, 2017, at Sweet Brook Care Center in Williamstown.
She was born in Central Falls, R.I., on May 29, 1924, the daughter of the late Peter and Margaret (McQueeney) Robinson. She attended schools in Providence, RI, including Holy Trinity and St. Xavier's Academy. She was also a graduate of the University of Miami, Fla.
Mrs. Wasilenko was a veteran of World War II, having served with the United States Navy Waves, until receiving her Honorable Discharge as Yeoman 3rd Class on December 1, 1945.
She worked as a professional singer-vocalist during World War II and retired as a Cruise Director from the Carnival Cruise Line in 1980.
Formerly from South Carolina, she was a member of the Myrtle Beach Ladies Auxiliary Lodge of Elks #2797 and President of Doe Drow 205. She was a charter member of Women of the Moose Lodge, Myrtle Beach, S.C. She was a communicant of the Parish of St. John Paul II, Adams.
Mrs. Wasilenko is survived by her former husband, Basil Wasilenko of Watervliet, N.Y.
She was predeceased by her only child, Michael Payne of Athens, Ga., who died in 2002; and by her first husband, Harry Payne.
Funeral notice: A private military funeral will be held at the Saratoga National Cemetery in Saratoga, N.Y. There are no calling hours. Paciorek Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
