Elsie E. Manson, 102
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Elsie Elizabeth (Duprey) Manson, RN, 102, of North Adams died Saturday, January 28, 2017, at Williamstown Commons.
She was born in Bristol, Vt., on April 26, 1914, daughter of George and Ethel (Thompson) Duprey. She graduated from Bristol High School in the class of 1932. Elsie graduated from Dental Nurses Training Institute in New York City and also graduated from Bellevue School of Nursing there, becoming a registered nurse in 1936.
She was first employed as an office nurse for Dr. CP Rosston until 1942 when she went to work at Sprague Electric Co. Dispensaries where she worked until her retirement in 1979.
Elsie was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church and was a member of its Women's Guild. She was also a member of the Bristol High School Alumni Association.
She was the widow of Llewellyn Archie Manson, who died on July 26, 2007. They were married on November 16, 1936.
Survivors include one daughter, Tondra L. Manuel of North Adams; one son, Richard J. Manson of Cheshire; three grandsons, Robert L. Manuel and his wife Wilmara, Jack E. Manuel and his wife Jessica and Thomas "Chipper" Manuel and his wife Kayla; five great-grandchildren, including Sophia, Alexandra, Margaux, Christian and James; and nieces and nephews.
Her son-in-law, Thomas Manuel, died January 18, 2017. Her grandson, James Manuel died in 1995, and she was predeceased by one brother and three sisters, including Dorothy Sargent, Barbara Toney, Doris Reed and Kenneth Duprey.
Funeral notice: A Graveside Service for Elsie Manson will be at a time to be announced in the spring in Maple Street Cemetery in Adams. There are no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to All Saints Church in care of Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapel, 74 Marshall St. North Adams.
