Florence J. Cristofolini, 74
POWNAL, Vt. — Florence Jean Cristofolini, 74, of Pownal, Vt., died on Sunday, February 5, 2017, at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany, N.Y.
She was born on March 21, 1942, in North Adams, Mass., daughter of the late Clifford and Barbara (Scott) Oakes. She attended schools at Readsboro Elementary School and Whitingham High School.
She married Mario Richard Cristofolini on October 17, 1959, in St. Joachim’s Church, Readsboro. Florence worked for many years at their family store, Mario's Variety Store in Reasboro, where she was the head store clerk. She also worked at Hogback Mt. Gifts, Horizon Inn and True Value in Wilmington, Vermont.
Florence was a member of St. Anne’s Women’s Catholic group, and enjoyed bingo, bowling, reading and playing cards. She was a true Boston Sports Fan, especially for the Boston Red Sox.
She leaves her husband of 57 years, Mario Cristofolini; her son Richard Cristofolini and his wife Traci of Stamford, Vt.; daughter Lisa Filler and her partner Bruce J. Andrews of Bennington, Vt.; her grandchildren, Ryan D. Filler of Memphis, Tenn., Eric M. Filler of Orlando, Fla., and Caleb and Lorenzo Cristofolini of Stamford, Vt.; her sister, Phyllis DeBlois; two brothers, Dennis Oakes and Mark Colford; and nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a sister, Laurelle Oakes.
Funeral notice: A Liturgy of Christian Burial to celebrate the life of Florence Cristofolini will be celebrated on Saturday, February 11, 2017, at 11 a.m. at St. Joachim's Church in Readsboro, Vt. There will be no calling hours.
