Raymond J. Dorazio, 73
WEST STOCKBRIDGE, Mass. — Raymond J. Dorazio, 73, of Lenox Road, West Stockbridge, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2017, after a valiant battle.
Ray was born on August 21, 1943, in Bridgeport, Conn., to John and Elizabeth Dorazio. He served in the Air Force from 1960 to 1968 as a small arms instructor and a member of the Air Force Competition Rifle Team.
He was a vital part of the West Stockbridge community where he developed his skills as a stained glass artist in his studios, Vortex and New England Stained Glass.
Ray was a member and past Master of the Wisdom Masonic Lodge and a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed cooking and gardening and was a big supporter of the West Stockbridge Farmers' Market.
Raymond leaves behind a wife, Kathleen Young; a daughter, Denise Dorazio of Torrington, Conn.; a son, David Dorazio of Glenburn, Maine; grandchildren Alexander and Abigail Gracer and Joseph Dorazio; his brothers Richard and wife Janice, Ronald and Shirley, and John and Susan, all of Colebrook, Conn.; and his sister Barbara and husband George Vargo of Waterbury, Conn.
He is predeceased by his grandson, Samuel Gracer.
Funeral notice: Funeral services will be at the West Stockbridge Congregational Church on Monday, July 17, 2016, at 11 a.m., conducted by Rev. Belle Fox-Martin. Burial will follow at the West Stockbridge Village Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 16, 2017, from 1 to 3 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. at Finnerty & Stevens Funeral Home in Great Barrington. Donations in memory of Raymond may be made to the West Stockbridge Fire Department or to the Shriners Hospital for Children through Finnerty & Stevens Funeral Home, 426 Main St., Great Barrington, MA 01230.
