Leda Dewkett, 90

LEE, Mass. — Leda E. Dewkett, 90, of Church Street, Lee, passed away peacefully at Fairview Commons in Great Barrington on July 8, 2017.

Leda was born in Lee on April 11, 1927, the daughter of the late Arthur S. and Delia Lasher Dewkett. Ms. Dewkett was a 1944 graduate of Lee High School and shortly after began her career at Smith Paper Co. at the Columbia Mill and retired from the sales department in September 1983.

Leda enjoyed being active on the family farm in South Lee, mowing the lawn into her mid-eighties. She also loved her animals, the family dog Zoey and Kitty will surely miss her.

Leda is survived by her brother William (Brub) Dewkett of Lee; her three nieces, Elizabeth Siok, whom she made her home with on the farm, Shirley Ovens and Barbara Comalli, all of Lee; six nephews, John Siok and his wife Kathie of Lee, Harold Dewkett, William Dewkett, David Dewkett, Thomas Dewkett and Donald Duquette; and several grand-nieces and -nephews.

Leda was predeceased by brother, Arthur S. Dewkett Jr.; and her sisters, Delia (Sis) Siok and Clara Andognini.

Leda's family would like to thank Elder Services and Porchlight for the wonderful caregivers provided for Leda since 2016 and a special thank you to Maryellen Pignatelli for her care and support.

Funeral notice: Services for Leda Dewkett will be held Friday, July 14, 2017, with a funeral service at 10 a.m. at the Kelly Funeral Home with the Rev. Janet Zimmerman, officiating. A visiting hour will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of service.

Burial will follow at Fairmount Cemetery in Lee. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make donations to the Alzheimer’s Association in care of the Kelly Funeral Home, 3 Main St., Lee, MA 01238.
