Phyllis J. Blair, 95
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Phyllis Jane (Bovey) Blair, 95, of North Adams, Mass., died on Tuesday, September 19, 2017, at North Adams Commons.
She was born on January 28, 1921, in Williamstown, Mass., a daughter to the late William Chester and Beatrice Lillian (Oates) Bovey. She attended school at Broad Brook and graduated from the former Williamstown High School with the class of 1938. She went to work for JJ Newberry in 1938 as an office manager and retired 50 years later.
She was married to Clarence A. Blair on March 20, 1957, in Petersburg, N.Y. Mr. Blair died October 9, 1973. Phyllis was an active member of White Oaks Congregational Church, serving as president of the Mary Martha Society, the church historian as well as singing in the church choir.
Phyllis was the last of her immediate family.
Funeral notice: A funeral service to celebrate the life of Phyllis Jane Blair will be held at the Flynn and Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, 74 Marshall Street, North Adams, Mass., on Thursday afternoon, September 21, 2017, at 1:30 p.m. A visitation will be held 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Clarksburg Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Williamstown Ambulance or White Oaks Congregational Church.
