Freda K. Macken, 95
STOCKBRIDGE — Freda Katherine Macken, 95, of Stockbridge died Friday, November 24, 2017 at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield.
She was born in Digby, Nova Scotia, on April 9, 1922, the daughter of William and Katherine Kaulback Potter and was a 1940 graduate of Digby High School. After her marriage to William M. Macken in 1947 she and her husband moved to Stockbridge. Her husband died January 17, 1966.
Mrs. Macken worked as cook and manager at the former Stockbridge Plain School from 1969 until 1984. From 1990 until 2006, Freda worked as a part time receptionist for the Marion Fathers in Stockbridge.
She was a former member of the Brightside Guild and the Lee Senior Citizens and a longtime member of the Stockbridge Grange #295, Berkshire South Pomona Grange #25, and also the State and National Granges.
Mrs. Macken leaves behind her three sons, Michael W., with whom she made her home, Norman E. of Stockbridge and Gary F. and his wife Laurie of Danvers, Mass; her four grandchildren, Elizabeth, Abigail, Nathaniel and Samantha; her great-granddaughter, Lydia; and her niece, Marjorie Ellison of Nova Scotia.

Funeral notice: Funeral Services for Freda K. Macken will be held Thursday, November 30, 2017, at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, Stockbridge, with a celebration of a Liturgy of Christian Burial. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in Stockbridge.
A Visiting Hour will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Thursday morning at the Kelly Funeral Home. In lieu flowers friends who desire may make donations in her memory to either the Porchlight/Lee VNA or Hospice Care in the Berkshires in care of the Kelly Funeral Home, 3 Main St., Lee, MA 01238.
