Paul S. Sprague, 72
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. - Paul Stuart Sprague, 72, of Lake Worth, Fla., and a former longtime resident of North Adams, Mass., died Tuesday, December 12, 2017, at JFK Hospital in Lake Worth.
He was born in North Adams, Mass., on October 22, 1945, son of Barbara (Marsh) Sprague and the late Stuart Kenneth Sprague. He attended local schools and graduated from the Drury High School. Paul attended Ottawa University in Kansas and graduated from North Adams State College.
Paul was a science teacher in the Adams Cheshire Regional School District from 1968 until his retirement in 2003. He was a longtime assistant football coach for the Hoosac Valley High School football team. In 1991, Paul was recognized with the Massachusetts Assistant Football Coach of the Year Award.
He was a communicant of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Paul enjoyed fly-fishing and was a member of the Greylock Community Club.
Survivors include his mother, Barbara (Marsh) Sprague of North Adams; his wife, Sheila (Canale) Sprague, whom he married on June 8, 1968; one son, Peter A. Sprague and his wife, Shari Zelman, of Tamarac, Fla.; one sister, Carol Ford of Bermuda; one brother, Neal Sprague of Newington, Conn.; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral notice: A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Paul Stuart Sprague will be celebrated Friday, December 22, 2017, at 11 a.m. at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will be in Southview Cemetery.
