Gloria N. Rolland, 95

CHESHIRE, Mass. — Gloria N. Rolland, 95, formerly of 50 Dean Street, died January 2, 2018, at Craneville Place in Dalton.

Born in Williamstown on January 11, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Earl George and the former Mildred Goodell. She was educated in Williamstown Schools, but spent her senior year at Drury High School, where she graduated in 1941.

She married the late Alfred J. Rolland in 1942 and they raised four children: Carol A. Rolland of Pittsfield, David A. Rolland of Shapleigh, Maine, Clark Rolland of Stuyvesant, N.Y., and Barbara Halek of Adams, Mass. She also leaves three grandchildren, Jeremy Halek of Adams, Samantha DeBlois of Savoy and Heather Couch of Washington State; two great-grandsons, Traylen and Leo DeBlois of Savoy; a great-granddaughter, Leigha Reece DeBlois of Savoy, Mass.; and many stepbrothers, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Gloria worked at England brothers in Allendale and retired after fourteen years of service. She spent her retired years doing art work, sewing, banking and reading. She had many friends and wonderful neighbors she could call on for help.

Gloria and Al joined the Cheshire Senior Club in 1988. She was asked to be the secretary that day and has held that office since.

She was predeceased by three brothers, Bob, Arthur and Stewart.

Funeral notice: The funeral for Gloria N. Rolland will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 5, 2018, at the Berkshire Union Chapel on Route 8 in Lanesborough, with the Rev. William Furey officiating. Burial will be at a later date at Bellevue Cemetary in Adams.
