Judith M Alfonso, 80

STAMFORD, Vt. — Judith Mary (Koscher) Alfonso, 80, of Stamford, Vt., died Saturday, January 13, 2018, at her home.

She was born in Pittsfield, Mass., on June 3, 1937, daughter of Raymond Camille and Mary Elizabeth (Ouellette) Koscher, both from Pittsfield, Mass. Judith graduated from Pittsfield High School and attended nursing school in Boston, Mass. She graduated from St. Luke's School of Nursing. Judy also worked in various hospitals in Bennington, Vt., Pittsfield, Mass., and Holyoke, Mass., before moving to Florida. In 1977 Judy joined the USAF as a Captain and worked at Carswell AFB Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas. She later moved back to Florida, were she was employed by St. Mary's Hospital in West Palm Beach, Fla., as Head Nurse Anesthetist of Labor and Delivery. Judy and Frank also co-owned a family sign business. She retired and Frank and she moved to Stamford, Vt.

Judy was a kind, loving wife and mother that had a lot of hobbies. She loved to cook and bake. There were always hundreds of Christmas cookies being made to give to family and friends every year. She loved to spend time with her animals, gardening, sewing, quilting, painting, tending to her blueberries and watching her yearly hummingbirds, as well had a great love for reading. Judy had a very big heart and her home was always open to anyone in need.

Survivors include her husband, Frank Alfonso, whom she married June 2, 1984; her two daughters, Jeanne Anne (Keyes) Strack of Warne, N.C., and husband Karl, and Kathleen Marie (Keyes) Persson of West Palm Beach, Fla., husband Donald; Frank's children, Daphne Reneé Alfonso, Keith Louis Alfonso and Linda Jean Gelineau, all of Pittsfield, Mass.; and numerous grandchildren, Yvonne Schneider and her children Hunter and Chase, Jennifer Costain, and husband Michael and their children Kaleb and Karsten, Stephanie Strack and fiancé Chris Hodges, Michael Persson and wife Marie-Laure Dumortier, Sarah Persson, Hannah Persson, Tyler Alfonso, Joseph Alfonso and son Zachary, Angelia Alfonso, Anthony Alfonso, Jessica Gelineau and her children Kaylee and Khloe, Rob Gelineau and his children Evan and Aubrey, Devin Gelineau, Caitlin Gelineau and son Thomas. Judith also had a brother, Edward Raymond Koscher of Vero Beach, Fla., and a sister, Linda Jeanne (Porter) Kabaniec of Bradenton, Fla., and many nieces and nephews.  

She was predeceased by Frank's son, Brian Michael Alfonso, who died October 28, 2010; and she leaves Brian’s children, Cassandra, Aizlyn, Shaylee and Kindyl.

Judy touched a lot of people in her lifetime and she will be missed by so many. Heaven gained another wonderful angel. We love you.

Funeral notice: The funeral for Judith Alfonso will be Saturday, January 20, 2018, at 4 p.m. at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapel, 521 West Main St., North Adams. Burial will be in the spring in Millard Cemetery in Stamford, Vt.

Calling hours at the funeral home are Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association in care of the funeral home.

So sorry to read that Judy has passed. She was a delightful lady and we enjoyed her company during the Senoior Lunches at S.C.C. We will miss seeing her there. Judy had a marvelous sense of humor.
