Elena C. Alcaro, 97
ADAMS, Mass. — Elena Caterina (Grande) Alcaro, 97, of Adams, Mass., died Sunday, February 18, 2018, at Berkshire Medical Center.
She was born in North Adams, Mass., on March 6, 1920, daughter of Giuseppe and Amalia R. (Scerbo) Grande. She attended local schools. Elena was last employed by General Cable Co. in Williamstown for several years until her retirement.
She was a communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Church. Elena enjoyed gardening.
She was the widow of Leonardo Alcaro, who died on July 24, 2009. They were married on August 18, 1942.
Survivors include three sons, Joseph Alcaro and his wife, Joanne, of Adams, Mario Alcaro and his wife, Teresa, of Naples, Fla., and Vincenzo Alcaro of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., six grandchildren, including Sharon Yapoujian and her husband, Dikran, Joseph Alcaro and his wife, Veronica, Colleen Pete and her husband, Todd, and Rebecca Alcaro, Andrew Alcaro, and Gregory Alcaro; five great-grandchildren, including Zola Alcaro, Owen Pete, MacKenzie Alcaro, Noah Alcaro, and Madelyn Yapoujian; four sisters, including Assunta "Sue" Deane and Philomena Demo, both of North Adams, Mafalda Musacchio of Greenfield and Marie Roy of Venice, Fla.; and nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
She was predeceased by her son, Leonardo Alcaro, on October 12, 2004; and two brothers, including Dominic Grande and Peter Grande.
Funeral notice: A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Elena Alcaro will be celebrated Thursday, February 22, 2018, at 11 a.m. at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery.
Calling hours at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapel, 521West Main St., North Adams, Mass., are Wednesday, February 21, 2018, from 4 to 7 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital in care of the funeral home.
