LeRoy D. Schaffrick, 75

CHESHIRE, Mass. — Mr. LeRoy Damon Schaffrick, 75, of Cheshire died on Friday, March 16, 2018, at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield.

He was born in Derby, Conn., on April 10, 1942, a son of the late Emil and Doris (Bragdon) Schaffrick. He attended schools in Adams and Cheshire and graduated from the former Adams High School. Mr. Schaffrick last worked as a heavy equipment mechanic and operator for several construction companies until he retired. Leroy also enjoyed his volunteer work with the American Legion VFW #144.

He joined the Berkshire Lodge of Freemasons in Adams in September of 1999, which started his long and proud affiliation with the Upton Lodge in Cheshire and the New Moon Lodge in Pittsfield. Leroy was also a proud member of the Melha Shrine in Springfield, Berkshire Shrine Club and the Scottish Rite of Western Mass. 

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, the former Rose E. Malloy, whom he married on June 16, 1962; two sons, LeRoy D. Schaffrick Jr. and his wife Rebecca of Savoy and Timothy Malloy Sr. of Cheshire; one daughter, Melissa Schaffrick of Adams; three brothers, Emil Schaffrick and his wife Eleanor of Cheshire, Richard Schaffrick of Pownal and Chuck Bragdon and his wife Ann of Cape Cod; his brother-in-law, Walter Bell of Florida; four grandsons, Timothy & Michael Malloy Sr. and Mitchell and Tyler Massaconi; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a grandson, Matthew Massaconi; and by a sister Lorraine Bell.

Funeral notice: A Masonic Prayer Service will be held on Tuesday, March 20, 2018, at 7 p.m. in the Paciorek Funeral Home, 13 Hoosac St., Adams. Burial will be at a later date at the convenience of the family.

Calling hours are Tuesday from 4 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Rose Schaffrick through the funeral home.

Surprise to read of LeRoy's passing. He was a great person and we had a lot of good times together in Masons and Scottish Rite. My deepest condolences to Rose and Family. He will be greatly missed by those who knew him. He did a lot of charitable work in the community.
