Marie Hood, 86

OTIS, Mass. — Marie Hood, 86, of Otis died Tuesday, March 20, 2018, at Fairview Hospital with her family at her side.

She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on November 12, 1931, the daughter of Eugene and Lillian Hofling. As a teenager Marie and her family moved to Otis. Marie graduated from Lee High School.

Marie married Howard Hood on June 11, 1950, and eventually raised four boys. For years she ran the Corner Store, which served the Big Pond Association in East Otis. She was a member of the Otis Congregational Church Choir and former secretary for the Senior Center.

Marie had an adventurous spirit which took her on many camping trips to places near and far. She was a dreamer and kind soul who was always there to talk to or just listen. Most of all, Marie enjoyed her time spent with her family and especially her two grandchildren.

Besides her husband, Marie leaves behind her four sons, Ronald of North Carolina, Jonathan of Florida, Joseph of Otis and Paul of New Hampshire; and her two grandchildren, David and Crystal.

Funeral notice: Funeral services for Marie Hood will be held Friday, March 23, 2018, at 11 a.m. at the Kelly Funeral Home with Pastor Doug Mann, officiating. A Visiting Hour will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be held later in the spring at the Otis Cemetery. In lieu of flowers those wishing may make a donation in Marie's name to a charity of ones' choice.
