James M. Mach, 49

James Michael Mach, 49, passed away in his home in Boston, Massachusetts on January 18, 2018.

He was born April 25, 1968, at BMC in Pittsfield, Mass. He attended kindergarten in Cheshire and completed his primary grades in Lanesborough. He participated in the learn-to-ski program that Lanesborough offers through Jimney Peak, and played hockey at the Boys Club in Pittsfield. He graduated pro merito in 1986 from Mount Greylock Regional High School in Williamstown. While in high school he was an honor student and a member of the national honor society and he participated in field and track and cross country skiing.  

James graduated from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in 1990 with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. He was a member of national fraternity of Alpha Chi Rho local chapter Delta Sigma Tau and he played lacrosse. He studied Business Administration at Bentley College in the Master’s program. He returned to W.P.I. and received his Master's degree in Information Technology with a 3.9 GPA in 1995. While at W.P.I. he worked in the college library, monitored and tutored the computer lab, and held various part time jobs in local businesses. During the summers he worked on Cape Cod. Jim spent his work-study semester working at G.E. Plastics in Pittsfield, Mass., where he received high praise for his research work.

His work career took him around the world as a well-respected and sought after database consultant. At the time of his death he was the owner of Mach Consulting and Information Services in the Greater Boston area.

James leaves his father, Frederick Paul Mach, DVM, and mother, Virginia Madeleine Clarke Mach, both of Lanesborough; two brothers, Thomas Mario Mach of Dorchester, Mass., and Joseph Vincent Mach and his wife Lastenia Suarez of Chicago, Ill.; his great aunt, Constance (Marino) Cirone of Port Orange, Fla., the matriarch of the Partenope family; an uncle, Francis Mach and his wife Ellen of Adams, Mass.; an aunt, Carol Lozinski and her husband Eugene of Pownal Vt.; and many cousins, friends and peers.

James was predeceased by his grandparents, Anna (Michalski) and Henry Mach and Rose (Marino) and Francis Clarke; and an aunt Christine (Mach) Malloy, all of Cheshire.

Funeral notice: A mass for the repose of the soul and celebration of life for Jim will be held 4:30 p.m. Saturday June 2, 2018, at St. Patrick and St. Raphael parish, 63 Southworth Street, Williamstown, with funeral and burial in Bellevue Cemetery, Adams, Mass., at the convenience of the family.

Circumstances don't permit me to be there but I and my family will be thinking of you as you go through this time in your life. No parent should have to bury one of their children. We send our prayers.
