Robert E. Belanger, 90
CLARKSBURG, Mass. — Robert Edward Belanger, 90, of Clarksburg died Sunday, August 5, 2018.
He was born in North Adams on September 26, 1927, a son of the late Isadore and Eva (Thouin) Belanger. He attended schools in Clarksburg and Drury High School. Mr. Belanger was a decorated veteran of WW II, serving with the United States Navy. He was employed at the General Electric Co. for 40 years until retiring in 1987.
Robert was a communicant of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church, served on the Board of Health in Clarksburg, was a member of the Northern Berkshire Retirees and its bowling league and enjoyed golfing.
Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Eileen Agnes (Ryan) Belanger, whom he married July 31, 1948; a daughter, Jane Hill and (Brian) of Dennis, Mass., and a son, Michael R. Belanger and (Debra) of Port Orange, Fla.; two grandchildren, Sarah Halili (Naim) and Ryan Belanger; three great-grandchildren, Sophia, David and Cora; two sisters, Jane Cook of Clarksburg and Carol Durfee of St. Petersburg, Fla.; and nieces and nephews John and Mary Cook, Linda and Jay Cook-Gravel, Gary Cook, and Mary Ann and Don Merlini.
Funeral notice: A Liturgy of Christian Burial will take place Friday, August 10, 2018, at 10 a.m. at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church in North Adams. Burial will follow in Clarksburg Cemetery.
Calling hours at the Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapel, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, Mass., are Friday from 8:45 to 9:45 a.m. Memorial donations are suggested for the charity of the donor's choice through the funeral home.
