Roberta M. Lawrence, 75

STAMFORD, Vt. — Roberta Maud Lawrence, 75, formerly of East Road, died peacefully on Saturday, March 16, 2013. Born in Ware, Mass., on April 14, 1937, daughter of Fay Chapman Scott Smith of Barre, Mass., and the late Robert F. Scott, she was raised and educated in Barre, Mass., graduating from Barre High School in 1955. She went on to attend Salem (Mass.) State Teachers College for two years (1955-1957). Mrs. Lawrence was business manager and co-owner with her husband, Stanley L. Lawrence Sr., of the Stamford Valley Golf Course for 28 years. The family business is now operated by their two sons. Active in her community, she served on the Stamford Valley Golf Course Board of Directors and the Stamford Elementary School Board for many years. She attended Stamford Community Church and enjoyed reading, knitting, crocheting and traveling. She also was a competitive bridge and pitch player. The Lawrences spent much of their retirement enjoying time with all 13 of their grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mrs. Lawrence met her husband while attending college. They were married for 56 wonderful years before Mr. Lawrence died on Nov. 1, 2012. Besides her mother, she leaves her two sons, Stanley L. Lawrence Jr. and his wife, Sheila, and Mark R. Lawrence and his wife, Melissa, all of Stamford; her daughter, Kelli Lawrence Corbeil of Brattleboro; two sisters, Shirley Gariepy and her husband, Richard, of Barre and Irene Bergman and her husband, Dana, of Worcester, Mass.; nine grandchildren, Stanley Lawrence III and fiancée, Stacy Williams, Samantha Lawrence Zawistowski and her husband, Alan, Shaine Lawrence, Amandakelli Lawrence, Nicholas Lawrence, Matthew Lawrence, Chad Lawrence, Connor Corbeil and Zachary Corbeil; four great-grandchildren, Gabe, Scott, Skylar and Cooper; her daughter-in-law Terry Lawrence; her sister-in-law, Ellison Finney, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her son Scott Brian Lawrence, son-in-law William J. Corbeil and sisters-in-law Priscilla Mullett and Linda Noyes. FUNERAL NOTICE — A memorial service for Mrs. Lawrence will be held Saturday, April 13, at 10 a.m. at Stamford Community Church on Main Road. Burial will be held privately by her family at a later date. Donations may be made to the Stamford Community Library in care of Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, MA 01247.
