Joan M. Fortin, 65
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Joan Marie Fortin, 65, of 234 Kemp Ave. died Friday, April 26, 2013, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Adams on April 5, 1948, daughter of Harold Dupee Sr. and Rita Dargie Dupee, she attended schools in Adams and graduated from Adams Memorial High School.
Mrs. Fortin and her husband, Donald Joseph Fortin, were the owners and operators of Personal Touch Cleaning Co. serving Northern Berkshire since 1986.
She was a dedicated and loving daughter, wife, mother and grandmother. She had a vivacious zest for life and her family was the center focus of it. She was well known as a devoted Catholic and humanitarian for anyone in need. She spent time caring for her elderly father before his recent passing. She enjoyed trips to the beach and ocean at Ogunquit, Maine.
Besides her husband, whom she married on July 6, 1974, in Cheshire, she leaves four daughters, Shelley Mannheim, Shari Langlois and her husband, Mark, and Jennifer Little, all of North Adams, and Lisa Cerveira and her husband, Jack, of Lanesborough; two sons, Donald Joseph Fortin Jr. of North Adams and Michael Fortin and his wife, Tara, of Hinsdale; three brothers, Harold Dupee Jr. of Cheshire and David B. Dupee and Richard Dupee, both of North Adams; a sister, Sharon Krzanik of Adams; 14 grandchildren, MacKenzie Boucher, Kayla and Elena Cerveira, Morgan Fortin, Mitchell and Alexx Langlois, Nicholas Jr., Michael and Mathew Fortin, and Connor, Abigail, Alexa and Emily Little, and many nieces and nephews.
Her father died on April 21, 2013; her mother on Sept. 1, 2003, and by her grandson Jacob Fortin on June 27, 2010.
FUNERAL NOTICE — A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Mrs. Fortin will be celebrated Tuesday, April 30, at 11 from St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will follow in the Southview Cemetery.
Calling hours will be Monday, April 29, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams. Donations in her memory can be made to Berkshire Medical Center Oncology Center through the funeral home.
