Patrick P. Accetta, 89
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. â€' Patrick P. Accetta, 89, of Port Orange, Fla., formerly of North Adams, died Sunday, June 23, 2013, at Indigo Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Daytona Beach, Fla.
Born in North Adams on April 5, 1924, son of Patrick and Doris Yuliano Accetta, he attended schools in North Adams and was a graduate of Drury High School. He also resided in California before returning to North Adams.
A Navy veteran of World War II, he served from 1943 until 1946, including on the USS LST 54 during the Invasion of Normandy. He was awarded the World War II Victory Medal.
Mr. Accetta worked at former Sprague Electric Co. as an assistant to Neal Welch.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing golf, garage sales, browsing through thrift stores and setting up a table at the flea market in Port Orange.
His wife, the former Geraldine Fisk, whom he married in November 1983, died June 1, 2007.
He leaves his sister, Gloria Martin of Denver; two stepdaughters, Deborah Duprat Dunn and her husband, Richard, of Southwick and Tami Duprat Trimarchi and her husband, Phillip, of South Daytona, Fla.; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, all in Massachusetts, and nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brother, Tony Accetta.
FUNERAL NOTICE â€' Graveside committal services and burial for Mr. Accetta will be held on Saturday, Oct. 19, at 11 in Southview cemetery in North Adams. Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals is in charge of arrangements.
