Nathalie R. L. Guertin, 87

PITTSFIELD, Mass. - Nathalie Regina Lenoa Guertin, 87, of Benedict Road died after long illness on Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2013, surrounded by her family. Born in North Adams on July 11, 1926, daughter of Leo and Regina LeGrand Serre, she earned her diploma in commercial/secretarial studies but chose to remain working in her home. Mrs. Guertin was a devoted wife and mother who attended to the duties of a homemaker using her abundant talents. A devout member of her faith, she was a caring woman to all who knew her and contributed to those in need. She volunteered her time at the former Brightside Home for Children in Springfield and was a member of St. Anne's Guild at St. Joseph's Church. She was a past volunteer member of several organizations in her community. She and her husband, J. George Guertin, were married on Oct. 19, 1946, after his return from serving in the Army Air Forces during World War II. Besides her husband, she leaves her daughters, Annette M. Guertin and Marie Fedoryshyn, both of Pittsfield; two sisters, Jacqueline St. Pierre and Marguerite Thornton; two brothers, Robert Serre and Thomas Serre; her grandson, Christopher Fedoryshyn of Brighton, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Eugene Serre and her son-in-law, Peter Fedoryshyn. FUNERAL NOTICE - The funeral for Mrs. Guertin, who passed into eternal life, will be held Saturday morning, Sept. 21, at 8:15 from Flynn & Dagnoli-Bencivenga Funeral Home, 5 Elm St., Pittsfield, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9 at St. Joseph's Church. Burial will follow in Southview cemetery in North Adams. Calling hours at the funeral home are Friday, Sept. 20, from 5 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph's Church, 414 North St., Pittsfield, MA 01201; HospiceCare of the Berkshires, 877 South St. Pittsfield, MA 01201; or the Serre and Guertin Family Scholarship at Berkshire Community College with checks payable to the BCC Foundation, 1350 West St. Pittsfield, MA 01201.
