Edward G. Sprague, 84
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Edward Gerald Sprague, 84, of 611 State Road died Thursday, Oct. 17, 2013, at Mount Greylock Extended Care Facility.
Born in North Adams on Jan. 6, 1929, son of Gerald and Julia LePak Sprague, he attended local schools and graduated from Drury High School in 1948.
He was a Navy veteran.
Mr. Sprague worked at the former Sprague Electric Co. for 40 years until his retirement.
He enjoyed playing golf and was a member of the North Adams Country Club. He also enjoyed travel and was an avid sports fan. He particularly enjoyed watching his granddaughter's sporting events and Williams College sports.
His wife, the former Nancy A. Galipeau, whom he married on April 21, 1950, died on Aug. 30, 2002.
He leaves his daughter, Donna J. Westcott and her husband, Jay, of North Adams; two sons, Shaun E. Sprague and his wife, Diane, of Adams and Gerald M. Sprague and his wife, Melinda, of North Adams; two brothers, Cyril Sprague of Little River, S.C., and Philip Sprague of North Adams; and two sisters, Eleanor Dalton of Adams and Katherine Kolis of Clarksburg; seven grandchildren, Joshua, Aaron, Nathan, Jared, Taylor, Hadley and Jayda; his three great-granddaughters, Lyra, Ava and Alexis, nieces and nephews.
His siblings Geraldine Teeple and Paul Sprague predeceased him.
FUNERAL NOTICE — Services and burial for Mr. Sprague will be private and there will no calling hours.
