George W. Olson, 96
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - George William Olson, 96, of Emerald Lane died on Monday, Dec. 16, 2013, at Sweet Brook Care Centers.
Born in North Adams on June 22, 1922, a son of Eskil and Hazel Brewer Olson, he attended schools in North Adams, graduating from Drury High School in 1940.
He was a decorated Navy veteran.
Mr. Olson was employed as a supervisor and superintendent for Construction Companies, retiring from Emerson Construction Co.
He was a member of United Methodist Church in North Adams, Richard A. Ruether American Legion Post 152 and of the local Carpenters Union 108.
His wife, the former N. Janet Norcross, whom he married on Oct. 26, 1946, in St. John's Church, died on March 20, 2004.
He leaves two daughters, Carol Agnew and her husband, Thomas, of Williamstown and Nancy Roberts and her husband, Donald, of Niceville, Fla.; two sisters, Elsie LaPlante of Williamstown and Dorothy LeSure of Stamford, Vt.; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Harold Olson and Raymond Olson.
FUNERAL NOTICE - The funeral for Mr. Olson will be held on Saturday, Dec. 21, at 10 a.m. from Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams.
Calling hours will be an hour prior to the service. Donations may be made to the St. Patrick's Food Pantry in care of the funeral home.
