Michael J. Gentile, 71

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Michael Joseph "Butchie" Gentile, 71, longtime resident of 1100 Mohawk Trail died on Thursday, June 12, 2014, at North Adams Commons. Born in Pittsfield on Sept. 2, 1942, a son of Philip and Eunice Magnani Gentile, he attended schools in North Adams, including Drury High School. Mr. Gentile was last employed at the former Gateway Chevrolet for several years. Before that he worked at the former General Cable Co. for 30 years. He also was a school bus driver for J.T. Bus Co. and worked at Bedard Brothers Auto Sales for several years. He was a communicant of the former St. Anthony of Padua Church. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, watching people at Walmart and spending time with his grandchildren. His wife the former Constance Lewis Charon, whom he married on July 8, 1994, died on July 1, 2010. He leaves one daughter, Lori Vela and her husband, Daniel, of Hollis, Maine; a son, Peter Gentile of Cheshire; a sister, Donna Powers and her husband, Stephen, of North Adams; two grandchildren, Colton and Kiley; four stepchildren, Joseph Charon, Debra Mullet, Stephen Charon and Gregory Charon and their families, and nieces and nephews. FUNERAL NOTICE — A funeral Mass for Mr. Gentile will be celebrated on Monday, June 16, at 11 at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Calling hours will be on Monday morning from 9:00 to 10:30 at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams. Donations may be made to the American Diabetes Foundation in care of the funeral home.
