Irene Marie Lambert, 100

August 08, 2014

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Irene Marie Lambert, 100, of 10 Freeman Ave. died Friday, Aug. 8, 2014, at her home surrounded by her family.

Born in St. Helene, Quebec, Canada, on April 15, 1914, daughter of Archille and Aurure Leblanc Bouffard, she moved to the United States at the age of 9 and attended schools in Westfield, VT.

Mrs. Lambert worked in the cotton mills in Burlington, Vt., until she moved to North Adams in 1939. She was first employed at the former Hoosac Cotton Mill and then worked at the former Cornish Wire in Williamstown until her retirement in 1982. She then worked as a housekeeper and self-employed landscaper.

She was a communicant of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. She devoted to her family and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed shopping.

Family and friends had gathered earlier this year to fete Mrs. Lambert on her centennial birthday.

Her husband, Louis George Lambert, whom she married on June 1, 1935, in Burlington, died on Oct. 2, 1992.

She leaves three daughters, Marielle Kordana of Bernardston and Clarise Vanderburgh and Carole Lambert-Superneau, both of North Adams; a son, George Lambert of Milford, Pa.; a sister, Alice Mitchell of Burlington; 14 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

She was predeceased by two brothers and four sisters: Rena Pepin, Jeannette Plumb, Yvette Bouffard, Mary Rose Platta, Henry Bouffard and Lionel Bouffard.

FUNERAL NOTICE — The funeral for Mrs. Lambert will be Tuesday, Aug. 12, at 10:15 from Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery.

Calling hours will be Monday, Aug. 11, from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires or St. Jude's Children's Hospital in care of the funeral home.
