Angelo A. Rancatti Jr., 73
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. - Angelo Anthony Rancatti Jr., 73, of West Orange, N.J., formerly of North Adams, died Monday, Nov. 17, 2014, at Livingston Care One in Livingston, N.J.
Born in North Adams on May 18, 1941, son of Angelo A. and Ellen Morehouse Rancatti, he graduated from Drury High School with the class of 1959. He earned his bachelor's degree from Seton Hall University and his master's from Rutgers University. He went onto receive a doctorate of literature from the University of the Sacred Heart in Milan, Italy.
Mr. Rancatti taught foreign languages for 31 years at East Orange (N.J.) High School. He also was an instructor in English; English as a second language; music, and the EOP Program at Seton Hall and was an adjunct faculty adviser for Italian studies at Seton Hall. He founded a foreign language scholarship at Seton Hall.
He had been a communicant of the former St. Anthony of Padua Church. He enjoyed music and, in his early years, sang opera.
He leaves his sister, Claire Daub and her husband, Robert, of Clarksburg; a brother, Richard Rancatti and his wife, Carol, of Salem, N.H.; nieces, nephews and his beloved friend, Michael Catino of West Orange.
FUNERAL NOTICE - The funeral for Mr. Rancatti will be Saturday, Nov. 22, at 11 a.m. from Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery.
A calling hour will be held Saturday morning from 10 to 11. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association or the AYJ Fund in care of the funeral home.
