Russell J. Wimpenney Sr., 86
CLARKSBURG, Mass. - Russell Joseph Wimpenney Sr., 86, of 675 West Road died Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2014, at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield.
Born in North Adams on Sept. 15, 1928, son of William L. and Elizabeth Arrighi Wimpenney, he attended North Adams schools and graduated from the former St. Joseph's High School.
Mr. Wimpenney was employed by the former General Electric Co. in Pittsfield for 15 years until his retirement. Before that, he had worked at the former Sprague Electric Co. in North Adams.
He was a communicant of St. the former St. Francis of Assisi Church in North Adams. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting.
He leaves his wife, the former Claire Joan Maynard, whom he married on Sept. 15, 1956; two daughters, Leslie Green and her husband, Arnold, of Sedona, Ariz., and Lori Miner of Adams; and two sons, Russell J. Wimpenney Jr. and his wife, Lisa, of North Adams and Shawn M. Wimpenney and his wife, Andrea, of Stamford, Vt.; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
His brother and two sisters, Dorothy Lombardi, Marjorie Martin and Francis Wimpenney are deceased.
FUNERAL NOTICE - A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Mr. Wimpenney will be celebrated Tuesday, Dec. 2, at 11 a.m. at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery.
