Florence M. McKane, 96
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. - Florence Mary McKane, 96, of 247 Eagle St. died Saturday, Dec. 27, 2014, at Cape Heritage Nursing Home in Sandwich.
Born in North Adams on Aug. 8, 1918, daughter of Henry and Josephine Heutler Brice, she attended local schools and graduated from the former St. Joseph's High School.
Mrs. McKane was employed as a telephone operator by AT&T and its successor companies for many years.
She was a communicant of the former St. Francis of Assisi Church and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
Her husband, Paul L. McKane, whom she married on June 30, 1942, died on Nov. 15, 1998.
She leaves two sons, Paul B. McKane of West Barnstable and Brice McKane of Sandwich; two daughters, Caron Garstka of Austin, Texas, and Rita Legge of Winchester, Va.; a sister, Elizabeth Neveu of North Adams; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
A sister, Margaret, died in childhood.
FUNERAL NOTICE - A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Mrs. McKane will be celebrated Friday, Jan. 2, at 11 a.m. at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will be Monday at 11 at Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
