Grace L. Scarfone, 87
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Grace Louise Scarfone, 87, of 484 Barbour St. died Friday, May 1, 2015, at Mount Marie Health Care Center in Holyoke.
Born in North Adams on April 9, 1928, a daughter of William and Mary Cheney O'Neil, she attended schools in North Adams, including the former St. Joseph Parochial School.
Mrs. Scarfone was employed at the former Gaeverts Film Co. in Williamstown and then assisted her late husband at the family business, Moderne Studio Photography, as a colorist. She also was a colorist for various photography studios through New England.
She was a communicant of the former St. Anthony of Padua Church. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, gardening and spending time with her grandchildren and family and loved her cats.
Her husband, Saverio "Sam" Scarfone, whom she married on June 5, 1948, died Nov. 22, 2012.
She leaves two daughters, Deborah A. McGowan of Jacksonville, Fla., and Lisa M. Scarfone of Springfield; three sons, Bryan Scarfone of Greenwich, Conn., Allen Scarfone of Glastonbury, Conn.,and Gary Scarfone of North Adams; a sister, Shirley Unsworth of North Adams, and six grandchildren, Bryce, Kris, Drew, Laura, Corey and Holly.
She was predeceased by her brother, William O'Neil, and her sister Florence Bishop.
FUNERAL NOTICE — The funeral for Mrs. Scarfone will take place Tuesday, May 5, at 1 p.m. from Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery,
There will be no calling hours. Memorial donations are suggested for Berkshire Humane Society through the funeral home.
