Martha LaValley, 86

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. - Martha LaValley, 86, of 18 Meadow St. died at her home on Tuesday, May 5, 2015, surrounded by her loving family. Born in North Adams on Sept. 27, 1928, the daughter of Lawrence and Harriet Stodden Belouin, she attended the former Mark Hopkins School and graduated from Drury High School with the class of 1946. Mrs. LaValley was employed by the former Sprague Electric Co. for many years, and General Cable. She was last employed as a bus monitor for the North Adams preschool, retiring at 82. The loves of her life were her children and grandchildren. She also loved camping and was often the first one at the campground at the beginning of April. She was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother and great-grandmother to all her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Throughout her life, she loved her pets, especially all the dogs she rescued. She and her husband, Leo LaValley, were married on June 7, 1947, in North Adams. Besides her husband, with whom she would have celebrated 67 years of marriage next month, she leaves two daughters, Kimberly LaValley and Marybeth LaValley, both of North Adams; six sons, Lawrence LaValley and his wife, Janet, of Arizona, and Peter LaValley, Michael LaValley, Richard LaValley, David LaValley and Shaun LaValley, all of North Adams; 17 grandchildren, Seth, Elizabeth, Amanda, John, Stephen, Laura, Daniel, Martha, Jennifer, Peter B., Christopher, Bruce Jr., Jeffrey, Beau, Frankie Ann, Shaun and Kaitlin; 17 great-grandchildren, Leo, Jonnie, Charles, Eli, Bellz, Donovan, Spencer, Conner, Andrew, Morgan, Madelyn, Jack, Marcus, Breanna, Zachary, Julius and Landon, and a daughter-in-law, Nancy LaValley of Williamstown. She was predeceased by her son Stephen M. LaValley Sr., her brother, Edward Belouin, and sister, Margaret Spagnuolo. FUNERAL NOTICE - A funeral service to celebrate the life of Mrs. LaValley will be celebrated on Friday, May 8, at 10 a.m. from Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams. Callings hours will be on Friday morning from 8:30 to 10 at the funeral home. Donations may be made to the Angel Fund at Greylock Animal Hospital in care of the funeral home.

Betsy, Mike, Shaun and family my condolences on Martha passing. I hope your memories bring smiles as the years go by. I was glad to read she passed surrounded by her family. You chose a lovely picture.

Martha was a eonderful friend we had many good times camping she will be greatly missed. I am so glad we got to see her one last time before she passed. Our deepest condolances go out to Leo and the kids
